One thing I love to do - Salad presentation! One of the guest captured this photo

Honestly in the summer, I can present salads all day long. It’s meditative. And, I like to give it the same care and presentation I like to put into my work. If only, I could show my team their work as a salad! This particular salad was about the orchestration. Do you see how I placed it so all of  the ingredients could get along? The best part is every guest gets the experience of creating their very own salad.

The 7th graders are going to perform their original songs at Mississippi Studios this week. My husband and I were so excited to see the performances. Well, that's not happening. Just a couple of days ago, we came to understand that the 7th graders are going to the food trucks, having roadies, getting the rock star treatment and being recorded with themselves.

No parents. We continued on with dinner as though all was well.

It was explained to us as "Mom, Dad, are you 7th graders? Of course you can't come."(insert "boy, you two are living in your own make belief parent world" emoji here). Once we had a moment to talk by ourselves, we wondered if our parents had experienced the same thing. All the cool places, they paid for — before they had ever been themselves. All those enriching life experiences given to us, with them wishing parents could come. We laughed! It only takes 20-30 years for us to have the full picture.

I began blog early in the week. But now with two celebrity suicides in one week, I believe the discussion is too important to fall prey to procrastination. Think about those times you have struggled with your own identity and how it impacted you. I know from my own experiece I felt down. I cannot imagine what those times would have been like had I also been struggling with illnesses like depression or anxiety. Identity is a global phenomenon that we have been exporting; and, those identities cover the gambit. Specifically, celebrity is an identity that is a double edged sword. it appears limitless but is often constraining in the same measure. Another identity that many of us live into is spoken in our refrain of “I just want to be normal.” Most of us can relate to the suffering that comes from gaining an identity and then moving on from it. The transition is often messy and painful. Especially, if our goal is to be free of identities altogether. What I notice is a global phenomenon. We have no idea how to lose or evolve our identity. And, it’s killing us.
